Challenge
This was a donor-funded project with a very tight budget. When presented with regulations from the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), as well as the desired project goals from the Owner, the result was a project cost that exceeded the donor-funded amount.
Success
Realizing that the project was over budget, Northstar led the project team through an extensive Cost Opinion Value Analysis (COVA) process, which is a strategic program, specifically tailored per project, designed by Northstar to prioritize project elements and select best options to meet the project budget. The process resulted in a project that was back on budget and included all design features requested by the donors and the school.
