Challenge
This new 50 unit Independent Living Facility, approximately 73,000 sf, was included in an overall master planning effort of an existing 16-acre campus. The facility needed to be fully designed and bid documents ready in approximately 12 months, due to an agreement established in the partnership documents. The challenge was navigating the Board of Trustees, membership committee and steering committees that made up the complex ownership structure of the organization.
Success
Northstar facilitated routine Design/Planning updates to keep members of leadership and the Board apprised of the project progress. Subcommittees and focus groups, including key partnership members, were implemented to facilitate timely feedback to the architects and design consultants. The subcommittees would also report back to the constituents as to the progress that was occurring in the small group sessions. This seamless communication effort allowed the project to avoid design schedule constraints and the team to meet the published opening date.
